FAQS

All our pools benefit from a subterranean Biotop bio filter that uses bacteria to break down impurities and organic compounds. The water then flows through a PhosTec Ultra Filter, removing the phosphorous that feeds algae (which would make your pool green and cloudy).

A lot of our customers prefer to have pools without plants. The filtration system doesn’t require them. We also offer a hybrid solution by installing a plant-filled pond as an adjoining feature. The twin elements are partitioned by decking or paving, but run off the same filtration system and complement each other perfectly.

You shouldn’t need to… unless your property is a listed building, in a conservation area or Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in which case it’s worth checking with the local authority.

You can if it’s one of our plant-free natural pools. We can fit a solar, slatted cover that traps heat and also harnesses the sun’s energy to warm your pool, as well as an air source heat pump.

From start to finish, a project takes 8 to 14 weeks depending on complexity.

We like underwater oxygenators like hornwort, floaters such as water lilies, and edge plants such as yellow flag iris, water mint and marsh marigold. These plants can all help filter nutrients, prevent algae growth, and create a habitat for beneficial wildlife including pond skaters, dragon and butterflies, and the occasional, friendly amphibian.

We provide a robotic cleaner that will keep on top of dirt and debris.

A natural pool can be enjoyed all year round (depending on your tolerance to cold water!) However, it’s advisable to cut back surrounding vegetation in the autumn.

The simple answer to this is yes… But it’s often much more expensive than starting afresh. If you have a clay-bottomed pond, there is little point in us adding high specification filtration, as every time you touch the floor, the water will get cloudy. There are ways around this, but no perfect ones.

This is not a good idea. Rooves collect organic matter during dry periods. When this nutritious dust gets put into your pool, there will be a surge in algae production.

With clearly-defined responsibilities and standards, this can and does work. And you may be able to keep costs down using this method. One thing worth considering is that you would be project manager and if you have ever watched Grand Designs, you’ll know that this role isn’t suited to everyone!  The technical bits (design/plumbing/filtration/lining) are always done by us.

Absolutely. Our smallest pool without plants is 25 cubic metres (5 x 3 x 1.68 metres). With plants, we can do 50 cubic metres (6 x 4 x 1.5 metres) with half of it planted (not for swimming).

We are very skilled at navigating access challenges. We can use boom pump concrete trucks, tiny motorised wheelbarrows and excavators, and even conveyor belts when all other options are exhausted.

The build process is a big undertaking. We have lots of machinery and materials to get in and out. We pride ourselves on managing this in a timely and tidy fashion. However, we work off recycled plastic mats to protect the ground and keep everything safely fenced off. We can’t help that the area will look like a building site for the duration of the project, but we’ll leave it looking immaculate – with a beautiful, natural pool to enjoy.
